Day22 - Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel.
I wasn't really sure what I was going to write about for this topic until Monday afternoon when I became one pissed off big sister.
Monday was my little brother's last official day of high school. He hadn't missed any days so he didn't have to go back the rest of this week when those that had missed more than two days had to go in to take finals. Monday afternoon they handed out yearbooks and everyone was free to leave or stay and sign yearbooks. That's when I get the text message informing me that they totally screwed up his senior picture in the yearbook. We're talking unbelievably pixelated people!
This is the picture that he sent me with the caption,
"this picture actually makes it look clearer than it really is".
ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!?!
His is the only picture that was messed up and when I called my mom she said his baby picture in the back of the book where parents can purchase a spot to write their kids notes turned out just fine.
Here is what I don't understand...
He had to submit the picture via thumb drive and they gave very specific guidelines as to what size it had to be. We're talking "xxx pixels by xxx pixels". We sized it to what they said they wanted and he submitted it like he was supposed to. He goes to a pretty small school. Why couldn't they have got a hold of him and let him know that the picture was pixelated so that he could get them a bigger one if they needed it? I wasn't in yearbook in high school, but don't the printers normally give you a copy to proof before printing up 200+ copies of the books? How did no one catch this?!
I know this might seem like something pretty silly to be really upset about, but I was fuming! My parents paid $50 for this book and it is something that people are going to keep and look at years down the road {at least some people will} and my brothers picture is going to look like when they blur out someones face on a freaking cop show! It's screwed up!!
In an attempt to calm myself down I called my cousin and said, "When I come in July I need your help with something. I can't tell you what it is, you can't asking me about it later and some people might get hurt." she replied simply, "who's car are we taking?" Those of you that love the movie The Town know what I'm talking about. Just to clarify, we were joking. I'm not going to hurt anyone.
I talked to my mom this morning and she said that she went in and talked to the school and they are going to refund most of their money since it was screwed up. That helps a little but I'm still upset because I know that it really upset my brother.
Tomorrow's Topic:
Things you've learned that school wont teach you.
